MY BABIES

Kayden & Breeanna

Kayden

Kayden is 2 months old! Well... 9 weeks and 1 day to be exact :)

He had his 2 month well check today. He is 12lbs 1oz and 24 inches long now. I cant believe how big he is! He is soooooo much different then Breeanna. The doctor checked him thoroughly and he is spot on for everything. He is such an amazing little man. I am so blessed to have 2 healthy children. He got his 1st needles today. I was so scared for him. He didnt cry at first and I thought, what a trooper. But he built it up inside and let out the biggest scream. It made my heart jump. Then he had another one :( I cuddled him and fed him and he was good. So, now he doesnt go back until he is 4 months old in June.

He is a very happy baby. He smiles on demand and coos and makes the cutest sounds. He likes to sit up, isnt a fan of being on his back. He enjoys tummy time, and looks like he would get up and crawl if he could. He can scootch backwards a bit when he is on his tummy. He is eating alot, I cant even keep track anymore. But we know he is getting lots by how big he is getting and how much he pees and poops! He is sleeping longer at night, his longest stretch of sleep has been nearly 7 hours. I couldnt believe it! The hardest is when he gets up at 4am and doesnt want to go back to sleep. Ugh! He has small naps through the day. He likes to be up and watch us and do things with us. He is very nosey, doesnt want to miss out on anything! He loves car rides and walks. He just amazes me everyday and I am so proud he is my son and Im his Mommy!

Breeanna

She is 28 months 1 week and 1 day old (but who's counting?)

Breeanna is doing awesome! She amazes me everyday. She is just so smart, and she knows it! She is learning numbers and ABC's. She cant count to 6, but has a hard time remembering 4. She can say and reckognize quite a few letters. She loves animals, and can say their names and sounds. She is also a master at matching puzzles now. She loves to colour and draw. She is doing really well with drawing circles. Now that Spring is finally here, she loves to be outside. She is such a big girl now, she can get up and down the slide all by herself now. She has bonked her noggin a few times, but thats all part of growing up. She likes to go on walks with her Daddy. I just dont have the energy to carry her back if she gets tired! But we do go on "I GO's" (rides in the stroller) atleast twice a day. She is sleeping very well at night now. We have cut out her daytime nap and she goes to bed early and sleeps up to 12 hours a night sometimes. Its so nice having our nights back, and not fighting to get her to bed. She recently hadnt been quite herself. And we discovered she got her 2 year molars on the bottom! My baby girl is growing up so fast; too fast!

1 month baby well check

Kayden had his one month check-up on Wednesday. He definetly is my BIG BOY! He weighed in at 10 pounds and 9.5 ounces. Exactly 2 pounds heavier than his weight at birth. He is also 1 inch longer, putting him at 22 inches. He is above average for his weight and average for his height. His sight, hearing, reflexes etc. are all perfect! Thats about all to report. I had thought he was getting immunization shots already. But thats not until months 2-4-6-12 months... I was so worried about him getting them. I guess I can save my worry for next month!

5 weeks

Kayden Christopher @ 4 weeks old

I meant to add a post 1 week ago when Kayden turned 1 month old. But he and his sister have been keeping me very busy. Alot has changed in a month. He eats much more, feeds off me then eats a few ounces of formula sometimes. I wanted to exclusively breastfeed, but he is just too hungry. He is a growing boy for sure! I already have a diaper box full of clothes he has outgrown. There were even some things he didnt get to wear. His sleeping habits have changed. He likes to be up alot more with us. He just doesnt want to miss anything! But thankfully he sleeps longer at night and we get a 3-5 hour stretch of solid sleep. I dont always sleep so well sometimes though because I wake up to check on him to be sure he is ok! He started smiling alot and laughing a few days ago. Its so cute to see him smile and giggle and let out funny little noises. He is such an entertaining little guy! He also now loves to be naked! He used to freak out when I changed his diaper or gave him a bath. Now he lays back and smiles and rolls his eyes in awe of being nude. Typical man! He has his 1 month well check tomorrow, so we will see how much he has grown and how well he is doing. Im curious to see what he weighs, I am pretty sure he is over 10 pounds now. He is my big boy! He gets his first shots and that is something I dont look forward to. I think it is harder on us than them... So, I will share more in a day or so.

Pregnancy... What I Miss and Dont Miss!

What I Miss:
Feeling my baby wiggle in my belly.
Not having to shave my legs so often.
Thick, shiney, wavy hair.
Carrying my baby around with me.
Clear skin.
Seeing the doctor each week and knowing things were okay.
Hearing my baby's heart beat.
Knowing I was growing a life inside of me.
Eating whatever I wanted and not feeling guilty about it.
My husband catering to me hand and foot.

What I DONT Miss:
Not being able to see my feet.
Pelvic/back pain.
Sleepless nights.
The emotional rollercoaster I was on.
Not being able to hold and carry my toddler.
Having a  period again.
Not knowing who was living inside of me.
Not being able to enjoy a shower.
Getting up to pee 3-4 times a night.
Swollen feet.
Constipation, gas, cramps, heartburn...
Waddling like a duck.

I have a 3 week old!

Kayden Christopher @ 3 weeks old

Where does the time go? I cant believe Kayden is already 3 weeks old. It has been a wonderful 3 weeks. I am so glad he is here. He is such a great little guy. He is worth getting up at 3am and being peed on by. He is now a breasteeding champion! He wasnt too interested in it for a while. I was supplementing formula and pumping. But over the weekend, he decided he likes the boob better! It is much more convenient, and now I dont have to mix formula and wash bottles. It also makes me feel closer to him. Im glad Breeanna is such an understanding big sister. I was afraid she would be jealous of me holding and feeding him. But she understands he is a baby and needs that extra care. So, he is drinking lots and growing lots. I already have a stack of clothes he has outgrown or wasnt even able to wear. Its sad putting stuff away already knowing that is the last time it will be worn :( He sleeps very well, once he is sleeping. He likes to stay up alot through the day, I guess he doesnt want to miss out on anything. He sleeps very good at night, usually a 4-5 hour stretch. So then I am a happy Mommy as I get some solid sleep too! He has become very vocal. He growls and makes noises that sounds like a kitten. And he will get snorting like a little piggy too. He prefers to sit up in his bouncy, swing, or be propped up on the boppy pillow. He just likes to be part of the action! He and I have not ventured out on our own again. But I did go out with just the kids the other day. And we all survived! They are both good travellers and love car rides. Thank goodness!

Big sister Breeanna and her baby brother Kayden

I am now very mobile, cant keep me still! I am so glad I have recovered. I was so happy I had a VBAC, yet so frustrated I had the other pain to deal with. I am now down 39lbs since giving birth. That puts me 13lbs below my pre pregnancy weight! It has been a long time since Ive been this low. I plan to still lose another 15-20lbs by summer. I really look forward to buying new clothes. Nothing fits! Its all too big, or maternity wear. I have been busy chasing after Bree as well as still eating less and eating healthy. I am planning on walking with the kids twice a day once this freezing weather stops. Spring cant get here soon enough!

1st check-up and such...

1st check-up
Kayden had his first check-up with our family doctor on Thursday. It was also our first outing alone. We picked up Gramma though to help carry him and such. It was nice to get out! He was weighed and is back up to his birth weight of 8lbs 9oz. He was FINALLY measured and he is 21 inches long. He is my big boy, thats for sure. He was checked over thoroughly, and he is perfect from head to toe! His heart rate was around 140 beats per minute. Which is around what it was when he was inside... No need to go into every single detail as everything checked out a-okay!

MY BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY

Sickies

We had to come home quickly that day, as Chris was very sick. He ended up with a terrible 1 day flu. And unfortunately, I got it too :( Mine was milder than his, but still terrible! Just as I was starting to feel better from giving birth, that set in. Were just hoping we didnt share it with anyone, especially the kidlets! So far, theyve been fine.

Weight Loss

On a good note, I am happy to announce my weight loss success! I gained 26 lbs throughout the pregnancy. As of 9 days after giving birth to Kayden, I lost 29lbs. Yay me!

Kayden's Birth Story

Kayden's Birth Story

I woke up on the morning of Tuesday February 8th 2011, feeling a little funny (around 8am). I was experiencing pains, I hadnt had before. Every 8 minutes or so, I would poke Chris to wake up. I could just feel it was finally the day! We got up as usual, had a coffee and something to eat. Then the pains began getting closer together. I figured we had lots of time... Chris dressed Breeanna and headed out to get his sister to come back here and stay with Bree. I finished packing my bag and had a bath. The bath was a BIG mistake! I figured it would make me feel better, help me relax, slow things down. But it only made it worse. By that time my contractions were about 5 minutes apart and lasted about a minute. Once Chris was back, I was ready to head out the door. I felt so bad, I didnt even hug Breeanna as we left :( The contractions got so strong that I only remember snippets of the car ride to the hospital and entering the hospital. When we checked in, my contractions were right on top of each other (1130am). They assessed me and didnt waste anytime getting me to the delivery room. I got changed, IV in, bloodwork done... They gave me gas for the pain and right away sent the request to get the epidural. I did very well with my breathing and getting through each contraction. My nurse, Roberta, was the best! Not much time had passed and my water broke on its own (1pm). What and odd sensation! Shortly there after, the anesthesialogist was there to insert my epidural, thank goodness! (2pm). It was so hard, sitting upright and trying to stay still as they inserted it. But I knew it was something that needed to be done. In no time at all I started to feel relief! I was then able to breath through the pressure of the contractions, focus, and rest up. I had finally reached 10cm dilation, woo hoo! (4pm). Baby was facing sunny side up, so we waited for him to turn. Then it was time to start pushing! I was so glad I was able to have this baby the natural way, I was so proud of myself! I had feared Id be a repeat c-section. But my body and the baby were both ready and knew what to do. I began pushing, it was so amazing seeing that little head of hair working its way out. I thought it would be gross to watch, but it was a miracle! I had an amazing coaching team- Dr. Lopez, nurse Roberta, Chris and my Mom. After about 35-45 minutes of pushing, my baby was here! Kayden Christopher arrived just in time for dinner like I had predicted earlier in the day. He was born at 5:01pm, weighing 8lbs 9.5oz and 21 inches long. He didnt cry very well at all and was taken to the ICU. It was hard not being able to hold and bond with him in those first moments of his life. But I wanted him to be ok. The doctors delivered my placenta and sac. I again thought it would be gross to see that, but decided to look at it. Its amazing what he grew in and lived off of for 9 months! I had a 2nd degree tear so the doctors repaired and stitched that up. I spent a couple hours in recovery while Kayden was being taken care of in the ICU. He got better and better as each moment passed. I felt so much better after having him, you soon forget the pain! I was taken to my room around 8pm, and Kayden joined me about a half hour later. Breeanna was there to meet her brother for the first time. She was so gentle with him, touched his face and "petted" his hand. The epidural began to wear off around midnight. I was able to sleep a little bit. Its very hard to be in a ward room with other mothers and babies. Around 5am, I started to feel extreme pain in my pelvic area. When I tried to move my legs to get out of bed I couldnt. It was so frustrating and painful! I had neuroligists, obstetrical people, and many interns visit and assess me. But no one could exactly figure out what was wrong. I felt like I was on an episode of "House"! So, I spent a few more days in hosital until I was a bit more mobile. We were released Friday after dinner. It was so nice to pack up, and head out of there and go home. Being in hospital that long feels like being in prison. The service was nice, the food was good, but there is no place like home. Breeanna slept over at my parents a few days. So it was nice to be home with my boys, rest and get settled. I used a walker for 2 days and lived upstairs. It was so hard not being able to get up and around and do things. But I had to recover... Having a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) was the best decision I ever made. It was amazing what my body and I was able to do. I am so happy to be a mother of two and be home with my babies.
